This project started as an in depth formal study and deconstruction of printed circuit boards, something I've been fascinated with since building computers with my dad as a child. I then extracted this geometry and fed it into a grasshopper script and used a giant robot arm to explore the bounds of hand craft versus automated production. To meld the processes together I purposefully introduced a "ghost" in the machine; inserting chaotic variables like warped time and human error into an otherwise clean system. With the robot arm I made a series of paintings, and then moved into the 3D realm and started testing full scale chunks out of clay. This 3D system was concieved of as the realiztion of a malfunctioning robotic arm getting launched out to space, landing on an asteroid, and then endlessly creating a structure using the very organic material of which the asteroid is composed.
